With trade union efforts fired employee is returned to work

In early March, UAB Vilnius trolleybus trade union won a case in court against the employer. After of nearly a year of redundancy trade union board member Galina Dakševič will be back to work. In addition, her company will pay a five thousand Lithuanian Litas (LTL) to compensate moral damage.

"This is our first court case, and very happy that we won it," - says trade union chairwoman Alina Ryžinskaja. The union exists its third year at Vilnius trolleybuses.


According to her, on 1 March of last year new management structure has been approved by the UAB “Vilnius trolleybus” company. Out of the four occupational safety and health inspectors only three posts are left. Somehow it was decided that a warning of dismissal was served to the trade union board member Galina Dakševič, which has the longest period of employment than other inspectors - 18 years.

A hearing was held on 3 March of this year, and the order was favorable to trade union. The company is obligated to return G.Dakševič to work and pay 5 thousand litas of moral damages.
