Payment order of per diems should be changed

2010-03-30

On March 23 in the meeting of Lithuanian Republic Tripartite Council was approved new order of payment of per diems. According to the Drivers union chairman Ramunas Narbutas, in this way drivers Petitions requirements were partly met. In particular, it is important that when the government approved amendments, the employee will be entitled to refuse to travel if per diems has not been paid in advance.

The Order of Government of the Republic of Lithuania as of November 3, 2004 No.1365 "The costs associated with business trips, size and arrangements of payment" was suggested to be replaced by the following:

"If the collective or labor contract states otherwise, no later than the last working day before the start of the business trip the advance must be paid to the employee - not less than 50 percent of the projected per diem and travel-related costs. The employee has the right to refuse to travel if he was not paid an advance in time. After returning from business trip, the employee within 3 working days present the report to the employer or his designee of the internal procedures and related documents about the actual costs incurred on the trip. If the loan has been paid, to return the unused balance of the advance. The employer must pay in full an employee who returned from the trip, not later than the date of payment of wages."
