Sportsmen union appealed to FIFA

2010-03-02

Sportsmen union (SPS) is awaiting a response and action from the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) on the Russian football club “Alanya Vladikavkaz” debt to professional football player Darius Žutautas from Lithuania.

Few years ago the club unilaterally terminated the contract with athlete without paying him the agreed amount upon the contract. D.Žutautas got involved in the search of truth, but soon discovered that there is no authority that would help to solve the financial problems. "With his initiative we established Sportsmen trade union - says the union vice-chairman Aleksandr Čiulanov - since it appears that only sportsmen umbrella organization able to deal with such problems."
SPS has applied to the Russian football federation on the club's financial obligations to Lithuanian football player, but no official response was received from it. A few weeks ago a lawyer Nerijus Kasiliauskas prepared and sent the required documents to the International Federation of Football Associations, continuous contacts, and consultations are made. Results of it should be clear after 2-3 months.
A.Čiulanov said, FIFA has the right to impose sanctions on the Russian Football Federation. The club "Alanya Vladikavkaz”, if financial obligations are breached could not receive a license to play at the highest Russian league. Club was accepted into it this year when the club “Moscow” had withdrawn due to financial problems.
