<< atgalNegotiation for collective agreement in the cultural sector2010-12-06 On 30 of November at the Ministry of Culture was held its first negotiating meeting on the branch collective agreement. It was attended by Lithuanian service workers' trade union chairman Aleksandras Posochovas. As the day after the talks at a press conference said United Trade Union cultural sector chairman J. Rimkus, the talks were postponed. Culture minister Arūnas Gelūnas discussing the terms and conditions requested that it would be valid to all cultural sectors. A break in the negotiations is agreed to include as many more active in the cultural sector trade unions organizations. Currently, the joint trade union representation consists of the United trade union and the LPSDPS. According to J. Rimkus, from the first meeting of negotiators is clear that the minister is in favour of it. Although from January of next year wage growth is unlikely, however, it is hoped that the negotiated wage rates of cultural workers could rise from 1of July. Trade unions require minimum rate/coefficient for wages would be raised by 20 percent. United Trade Union President Arvydas Dambrauskas in the press conference mentioned that despite good signs, in some areas begun to create the strike committees. "If you do want peace, prepare for war" - he said. In addition, the union has presented itself for negotiations to the Social Security and Labour Ministry regarding the social workers salaries. United trade unions cultural sector chairman J. Rimkus said, that they unite librarians (two-thirds of the Lithuanian public libraries staff), a recently established Museum workers trade union, cultural centers, and theaters workers' organizations. A. Dambrauskas invited other trade unions in the sector to joint representation of the cultural sector in the negotiation of the collective agreement. It is believed that the talks would resume in January. Both the trade union presentations for negotiations with the Ministry delivered on 29 September. Before they set up a joint representation and signed a cooperation agreement, which declared the overall goal - better work conditions of cultural employees.
