<< atgalIf needed, the drivers will go on strike2010-09-20 Tired of always deteriorating working conditions the long- distance truck drivers have formulated requirements for the government and employers. Seeking to implement it they are ready even to strike.According to the Drivers' trade union chairman Ramunas Narbutas, employers do not comply with certain provisions of the law guarantees related to workers on the road, and using some government concessions granted they spare money the expense of drivers, writes portal lprofsajungos.lt Law on the Guarantees for Posted Workers should protect long-distance drivers on duty. Unfortunately, employers comply with not all rules of this law. One of them states that the employee on the road shall be subject to the state in whose territory the worker is sent to work temporarily, regulatory law, including also collective bargaining industry agreements shall apply: for work and leisure, the minimum annual paid leave, the timing of minimum wage, including payments for overtime work. Therefore, drivers' union calls for repeal of the Act, adopted on January 31, 2005 by the Government that replaced November 3, 2004 Resolution No. 1365 "The costs associated with business trips, size, and payment procedures. The Lithuanian Transport Workers' Trade Union forum is invited through a collective bargaining with Lithuanian Carriers Association Linava, to demand the agreement on an hourly tariff rate of pay that is not less than two minimum hourly rates (currently 4.85 Litas). For Drivers' union claims on 10 September the support was expressed also the Lithuanian Transport Workers' Trade Union Forum. Drivers ask other transport workers' trade union support in order to meet these requirements. lprofsajungos.lt |
